In order to receive the Datastain.com signal, you’ll need a wireless card or router attached to your computer. Often, but not always, computers come with this technology built in. Your wireless card or router must be able to accept an 802.11-b or –g signal. Unfortunately, Datastain.com will be unable to assist you in setting up your wireless card or router, however most computer service centers will be able to assist you.

In order to obtain internet service, you must find and connect to the Datastain.com wireless signal. The wireless ID, or SSID, of that signal is “Public_Hotspot--Datastain.com”. Follow the instructions of your wireless card or router in order to connect to the SSID. Once you connect, open a browser window. You should see a login screen. From that screen, you can establish a new account, log into an existing account, and manage your account information.

If you wish to use an Internet appliance that needs direct access to the Internet, such as a gaming console, a Blu-Ray player, or a VoIP phone, you can enter the appliance's MAC address on your account page, and the hotspot will automatically log that appliance in when it attempts to connect.

You should connect to the wireless network at your building via the password we provided you upon move-in. We cannot guarantee that the free wireless high speed internet in your apartment building will always work flawlessly. Our goal is for it to function great, but as we all know, technology sometimes fails. When it does, we do our best to get it up and running as soon as we can. If your internet is not working properly, send us an e-mail at support@downtownian.com or calling the office at 410.753.2132.
