Before you move into your new home, please make sure the following steps are completed to ensure a smooth start to your residency:

Utility Setup

All tenants must transfer gas and electric service onto their own names through BGE (Baltimore Gas and Electric) before moving in.

How to start your BGE service: You can start the process online through the BGE website or by calling them at 1-800-685-0123. Most utilities require at least three business days' notice to start, stop, or transfer service so take that into account.

Information you need: Gather your Social Security Number (SSN) or driver's license information, the new service address, and the date you want service to begin.

Prepare for a potential deposit: BGE may require a security deposit to open an account, based on factors like your credit rating or payment history.

Resident Portal

Confirm that you have received login information for the Downtownian Portal and have successfully set up your resident account. This is where you'll access your payment history, maintenance requests, and important notices.

Account Balance

You security deposit and first month's rent must be paid in full, with a $0 balance shown on your account prior to move-in day.

Renter's Insurance

Upload proof of active renter's insurance (one policy per resident) to your Downtownian Portal before you move-in date.

Friendly Reminder

HVAC Filters: Management will replace the HVAC filter before you move in. After that, it is you responsibility to replace the filter approximately every three (3) months to maintain good air quality and system efficiency.

Light Bulbs: Your unit will be provided with working light bulbs at move-in. After that, residents are responsible for purchasing and replacing bulbs as needed.
